Waitomo Caves – you will explore the ancient and amazing caves, with it’s many different cave formations including Stalactites, Stalagmites and Lime Columns, before descending even further underground for your glowworm experience. Board your glowworm boat for a cruise on the grotto river with thousands of glowworms- which are unique to New Zealand- glittering above your head.
Day 6 – Tour
Self guided tour Wai-O-Tapu thermal wonderland is a natural geothermal area. Inclusions:- Lady Knox Geyser, unique geyser can reach heights of up to 20 meters.- The Champagne Pool- The largest pool in New Zealand.- The devils bath (roto Karikitea) a uniquely colored neon green crater.
Redwood Treewalks: Magnificent Redwood Forest– home to the Redwoods Treewalk, a Rotorua must do! This award winning attraction is great for all ages with 28 suspended bridges and 27 platforms creating 700-metres of treetop experience. Leave feeling inspired, refreshed and rejuvenated.
Special evening with buffet dinner: A fully guided tour at Te Puia geothermal valley, exploring native bush, bubbling mud, and the mighty Pohutu Geyser. Visit the Kiwi Conservation Centre and the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner featuring hangi style meats, seafood, and desserts. Then, be captivated by a cultural performance at Te Aronui a Rua, including pohiri, waiata, moteatea, poi, and haka. Conclude with a stroll through the valley and a hot chocolate. Suitable for all ages.
Day 7 – Return to Auckland with a stop at Hobbiton Movie Set
Embark on a tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set. This location is the largest green set in the world. See 44 hobbit holes, the Mill and double arch bridge, the Party Tree and visit the Green Dragon Inn. Take photos at the gate to Bilbo’s house, Bag End, looking out over the whole set to the hills in the distance. Venture Beyond the Door and explore the interior of a Hobbit Hole on Bagshot Row. After a free drink inside the Green Dragon Inn, enjoy a marquee lunch on set followed by time for shopping before depart for Auckland.
